ACERCA DE MI

ABOUT ME

Born in Bogotá, Colombia, I'm an attorney, artist and activist. I am passionate for learning and showing with icons  and letters the beauty of nature and the nonsense of human beings.

My style may be considered as a symbolic expressionist, my main influences are French Impressionism, Graffiti movement and artivism.

I paint orchids because they are a huge family of exquisite flowers spread across the globe that resembling lazy butterflies, give us joy and hope for the diversity in their colors and designs, and also because it is a national symbol in my birthplace so it corresponds to an official establishment that glorifies and imposes them.

I am the co-director of a social entrepreneurship that protects the endangered Wayuunaiki language and brings educational and cultural programs to the Wayúu people. I strongly believe in the dialectical power of art and law, in the strength of symbols and in the beauty of flowers and nature.

I like to include words in my paintings inspired by hagiography and Jean Michel Basquiat, I greatly enjoy exploring and mixing different languages questioning the limits of art poetics.

The stunning palettes of Renoir, Monet, Degas and Toulouse Lautrec burned a fire in my heart during high school, but it was a slow cooking process while I learned English, French, Wayuunaiki, Legal Latin, Greek, Hebrew, some Esperanto and Yiddish
